Alpha boiler quotes: what makes the warranty 10, 11 or 13 years?
The short version
Compare Alpha E-Tec Plus NX quotes by the exact accessory package, registration and servicing conditions, with a practical handover checklist.
For the Alpha E-Tec Plus NX combi, the quoted warranty depends on the package: Alpha currently lists 10 years as standard, 11 with its Cyclone Plus NX magnetic filter, or 13 with PremierPack Pro. Those are conditional manufacturer warranties, not a promise that every Alpha boiler or every installation fault is covered for 13 years.
Before choosing between two quotes, ask each installer to name the exact boiler and accessory, confirm the warranty you will receive, and explain who registers it. The difference should be visible in the written specification, not just in a sales headline.

Which package is actually on the quote?
This table applies to the E-Tec Plus NX models listed on Alpha’s current product page. Do not apply it automatically to an older E-Tec, another range or a quote that omits the NX suffix. Ask for clarification before comparing prices.
| Specified package | Listed warranty | Check on the quote |
|---|---|---|
| Standard E-Tec Plus NX | 10 years | Exact model and output |
| With Cyclone Plus NX magnetic filter | 11 years | Named accessory, not just “filter included” |
| With PremierPack Pro, including Cyclone filter | 13 years | Complete named pack included in the installation |
A filter and a PremierPack are not the same purchase
Alpha describes PremierPack as a wall-mounting jig incorporating a Cyclone filter and installation components. Its accessory page says PremierPack Pro adds three years to E-Tec Plus NX and E-Tec NXS, but two to E-Tec NX and Evoke NX. The same accessory therefore does not create the same warranty total on every model.
Ask the installer to explain the proposed pack in the context of your installation. Do not assume that a generic magnetic filter, an existing filter left in place, or an unnamed “protection pack” earns the extension advertised for a different package. Obtain manufacturer confirmation if the quote and published specification disagree.

Separate registration from installation paperwork
Alpha requires registration within 30 days of installation and a completed Benchmark form. Its terms start cover from installation, not first use, and require annual servicing by a suitably trained Gas Safe registered engineer. Keep the registration confirmation and service records somewhere you can find them.
There is a practical distinction on Alpha’s registration page: the public form sends details to Alpha only. Installers who want registration details forwarded to Gas Safe are directed to the secure installer area. A warranty registration confirmation therefore should not be treated as proof that every installation notification has also been completed. Ask the installer what separate records you should receive.

Use this quote and handover checklist
Send the same questions to each installer. This is an editorial comparison worksheet, not a manufacturer requirement to use a particular quotation format.
- Which exact boiler model and output are specified, and why do they suit the property?
- Which named filter or pack is included, and what warranty term does that combination qualify for?
- Who registers the boiler, by when, and who sends me the confirmation?
- What commissioning, Benchmark and installation-notification records will I receive?
- Who services the boiler annually, and what records should I keep?
- Who do I contact for an installation fault, and who handles a manufacturer warranty claim?
- Are system cleaning, controls, flue work, removal and making good included or separately priced?
Judge the whole installation, not years alone
Imagine two quotes for the same E-Tec Plus NX: one specifies 10 years and the other 13. This is an illustrative comparison, not a pair of real customer quotes. First check whether the second actually includes PremierPack Pro. Then compare the installation scope and future servicing arrangements. A longer term does not tell you whether one quote omitted necessary work.
Alpha’s terms exclude several causes outside a manufacturing defect, including failures elsewhere in the heating system and damage from scale or corrosion. They also say invoices from third-party attendance and repairs will not be accepted under the warranty. Check the manufacturer’s claim route before commissioning a repair you expect it to reimburse.
The boiler manufacturer’s cover and the installer’s responsibility for the work are different. Clarify both contacts before accepting the quote; the warranty should not be used as a substitute for a clear installation agreement.

Compare a complete replacement quote
If an Alpha package is on your shortlist, request written quotes that identify the model, qualifying accessories and work required for your home. Boiler Comparisons introduces homeowners to independent installers; we do not install the boiler or issue Alpha’s warranty. Availability depends on your postcode and participating installers.
